Title: Am I a Bag Lady?
Date: October 25, 2013
Location: Dayspring Family Church, Bishop Kevin Dickerson & Pastor Sonjia Dickerson, 618 N. Belt Line Rd, Irving TX 75061

Presentation Notes

KEY SCRIPTURE: 3 John 1:2 KJV-Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
  • NLT- Good health
  • This tells us via Paul that God desires for us to prosper TWICE.
  • Notice the link in between...good health.
  • Excess baggage can keep us from attaining this prosperity.
  • In reviving the body, we have to get rid of some excesses baggage, so ask yourself, "Am I a Bag Lady?
Let's look at some bags we may have accumulated...
Sleeping Bags- bags under the eyes
  • FLUID- dilated blood vessels forcing/pumping nutrients to eyes that are straining to stay awake
  • THIN/ DROOPING SKIN- more fat replaces the protein, so the skin becomes baggy.
  • Genesis 1:16 KJV- And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night:...
    • Your greater should be lesser by nightfall
    • God separated day and night, so should you
  • In regards to sleeping, ask yourself, "Am I a Bag Lady?"

Eating Bags- food/eating bags
  • We're living TO-GO lives ONE-STOP at a time.
  • Just as important as WHAT we eat is the ENVIRONMENT in which we eat it
  • Racing through meals is not how we take care of the temple, in fact, it's disrespectful and disobedient.
    • 1 Corinthians 10:31 KJV- Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
  • When we're on the go with all these bags, we lose the essence of eating altogether
    • We chew less, which means we break down less in the mouth, which means more work for the stomach and intestines, which means less nutrients absorbed overall, which leads to decreased immune function, which means poorer health more sickness and more disease.
    • We make poorer decisions, because our brains are starving for carbohydrates. We make quick, reactionary decisions regarding what to eat, instead of cogitating on what is best for our bodies.
    • Most detrimental is that we don't sit down as a family. Breaking bread builds relationships, but it's hard to do that while rushing, driving, etc.
  • In regards to eating, ask yourself, "Am I a Bag Lady?"

Trash Bags- excuses against participating in physical activity
  • The problems is we've gotten really good at making excuses.
    • Many examples were thrown out by sisters in the audience, and we threw them all away!
    • It's time to take out the trash and move! These are Your excuses for inactivity...they are piling up and weighing you down.
  • If you're supposed to be accelerating to the next level, how can you do so effectively with all of this trash?
  • When God says move, you have to be ready
    • David had to be ready to step up to Goliath.
    • The Israelites had to be ready to exit Egypt.
    • Do you have the physical endurance it takes for your assignment?
  • In regards to trash bags and excuses, ask yourself, "Am I a Bag Lady?"
Final Thoughts
  • The Devil is stealing,  killing, and destroying our health, not just because he can, but because we're making it easy.
  • Again, 3 John 1:2 KJV-Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
  • We're focusing on our souls and not the temple that
    • protects that soul
    • represents that soul,
    • and literally/ physically takes that soul where it's going.
So again I ask you, "Are You a Bag Lady?"

I was so blessed and honored to share with you. More information about Dr. Asha and Temple Fit Ministries is available at www.doctorasha.com. Love you!! :)

Title: You Cannot Live to IMPART When You Are Living IN-PART
Date: October 10, 2013
Location: Truth Gatherers Community Church, 3780 Peddie Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32303

Presentation Notes
Key Scripture:
  • John 10:10b- I am come that they might have life and that more abundantly.
What is Abundance?
  • What is abundance?
    • It is the whole, PLUS some. It is the excess.  It is beyond and over the top
  • When we are imparted upon, our cup becomes full until it runneth over.  The saucer catches the excess.
    • That overflow then becomes our impartation unto others.
    • We have nothing to offer others if our cup is half full.
Are You Living IN-PART?
  • As Women of God, we give, give, give, until we have no more.
  • We are giving parts of parts, until we are the ones left dry and empty.
  • We were not built in part, so we cannot live IN-PART
    • We were formed of dust (physical), and the spirit was  breathed into us (spiritual) to make one body.  Then we are instructed
      • 1 Corinthians 6:20- For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Areas Where You May Be Living IN-PART
We are eating IN-PART
  • Dieting is not about denying your plate; it is about FILLING the plate with healthy decisions.
  • Don’t count your calories, make your calories count.
    • Vegetables are thermogenic.
    • Fruit is mostly water.
      • Dust + water= clay
We are moving IN-PART (physical activity)
  • Man was made to move
    • Genesis 2:5-7- When no bush of the field was yet in the land and no small plant of the field had yet sprung up—for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there was no man to work the ground, and a mist was going up from the land and was watering the whole face of the ground— then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
    • Man’s was not made until he had a purpose.  His purpose was to work the ground.
    • Man was later told to name the animals.  Get creative and find ways to move:
      • Walk the block with girlfriends
      • Neighborhood field day
      • Church boot camp, Church Zumba, Ministry Department fitness classes
      • Fitness on demand with your cable
  • Once we stop moving IN-PART, then our ability to IMPART gets so much greater.
We are sleeping IN-PART
  • Then we are IN-PART with others, we are IN-PART emotionally, and we are IN-PART mentally.
    • We make Jesus stink!
      • 2 Corinthians 2:15-16- For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
  • What happens when we sleep adequately?
    • God creates-Eve was created from Adam.
    • God speaks- God called Solomon by name and asked him what did he want.
      • Your subconscious takes over when you are asleep.

I hope you were blessed as I most definitely was!  As a special thank you, please enjoy 3-Free Days at Legacy Fitness and discounts at the smoothie bar on me. Just let them know Dr. Asha sent you!

TFR Episode #9 Recap- The Basics of Insurance

Temple Fit Radio Episode #9 Recap
"The Basics of Insurance"
Aired on 10/2/2013

Here are some highlights for you!
  • Scripture Reference

    • Luke 14: 28-30 ESV 28For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? 29Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’

  • Terms to understand
    • Provider- Your physician has signed a contract with your insurance company to provide certain services at a specific rate.
    • Deductible- A minimum you must meet in payment as a patient before your insurance company starts to contribute more towards your services.
    • Covered vs. Not Covered- Certain services will be "covered" by your insurance plan, meaning your insurance company will contribute towards the payment of these services. This can be general treatment or examinations, lab tests, etc.
    • Co-Pay- This is a flat rate you pay for the services received based on your insurance policy. If your policy does not have a co-pay, your fee payment is calculated in a different way.
    • Maximum- This can mean maximum visits or maximum amount of money paid. When this number of visits is reached, or once the insurance company has contributed this amount of money overall, they will no longer contribute towards the services you receive.

Remember to tune in next week for "Breaking the Chains of Suicide"
with licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Anika Fields.
