TFR Episode #4 Recap- "Your Physical Walk Affects Your Spiritual Walk"

Temple Fit Radio Episode 4 Recap
"Your Physical Walk Affects Your Spiritual Walk"
Aired on 8/14/2013

Live listen here.

Here are some highlights for you!
  • Your heart can desire to go somewhere, your mind can decide to go somewhere, but you will remain exactly where you are, until you take that first step.
  • Physical feet have two important functions:
    • Supporting our body weight
      • You were not designed to stand on your head (headaches)
      • You were not designed to stand on your hands (overworked and overwhemled)
      • You were designed to stand on your feet
    • A lever to propel you forward
  • Spiritual feet have two functions:
    • Your feet are connected to your peace
      • Ephesians 6:13,15-Therefore  take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in  the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm...and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace
      • Matthew 6:34- Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
      • Let your spiritual feet support your spiritual body weight.
    • Your feet are connected to your blessing
      • Psalm 119:1-3 Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the  Lord! Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who  seek him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways!
      • God told Moses and Joshua to move their feet in order to expand their territories.
      • Let your spiritual feet propel you forward.
      • Stop sitting on your blessing and start moving your feet.

TFR Episode #16 Recap- "Why WEIGHT?"

Temple Fit Radio Episode #16 Recap
"Why WEIGHT"
Aired on 12/11/2013

This is Part 1 of the "Why WEIGHT?" Series

Reviewing the Previous Year

  • As you review 2013 in preparation for 2014, ask yourself
    • What has changed?
    • Did I meet the mark on that dress size?
    • Am I back into that favorite suit?
    • Or am I in the same place I was last year?
  • Every year we resolve to change something significant in our lives...but Why WEIGHT?
    • Image dissatisfaction drives a lot of our new year's perspectives.
    • Fitness, health, and eating related resolutions are among the most popular according to USA.gov.
    • If health and overall wellness is TRULY important to us, why to we WAIT to implement it, and why do we often fail 365 days later?

3 Tips to Resolve Your Resolutions
  • The best way to stop revolving and start resolving these resolutions is to avoid the WEIGHT and the WAIT.
  • Romans 12:2 NLT Advises us, "Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."

    1. Don't copy. Stop waiting until Jan 1st to implement life changes. Start with the baby steps TODAY. Review your current schedule, when would exercising fit in? If It doesn't fit in now, it won't fit in then.
    2. Let God transform you. Pursue physical and and spiritual health TOGETHER. God desires that we prosper and be in good health even as  our souls prosper. (3 John 1:2). View every workout as a worship experience, for we are to worship Him in body AND in spirit.
    3. Change the way you think. Sports psychologists will tell you, the first step to success is ENVISIONING yourself as successful. To conquer those resolutions, See yourself as God sees you...Fearfully and Wonderfully made. Use THIS as your motivation. Scale changes, measurement changes, and more will come as byproducts of pursuing wellness with a healthy mind.
Why WAIT to start your new year off right?! Stay tuned for testimonials and tips from professionals the entire month of December.

TFR Episode #15 Recap- "Give God Your Morning"

Temple Fit Radio Episode #15 Recap
"Give God Your Morning"
Aired on 11/20/2013

This is Part 3 of the "Good Nights & Better Mornings" Series

  • Do you wake up grouchy? Hate the world when your alarm goes off? Is every side of the bed the "wrong" side?
  •  We have this "I'm rushing" mentality, and we dismiss mornings from our lives. However, our lives were not created to be "made through," but lived. How then can you keep life from just whizzing by? It all starts with your morning...

3 Tips for a Better Morning

{Seek God}
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
~Matthew 6:33

Do you greet God in the morning? Do you wake up talking to Him? Do you give Him the firstfruits, the tithe, of your day?

We want our days to go right, but we start them with God left behind. Talk to God in the morning. Let Him talk to you! Tell Him how wonderful He is, how much you love Him, how excited you are to be about His business today.  Greet your spouse and family.  Speak kindly to them and share His love. Invite God in the morning. Start your day with Peace.

{Be happy, ON PURPOSE}
This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
~Psalm 118:24

Don't be an Israelite...stop using your mornings to complain. "My back hurts," "I'm tired," "Today is going to be a long one," "Is it morning already?!," and "Monday...sigh." Don't fill your morning with mournings.

Instead, wake up determined to be happy.  Find things to celebrate, big and small. Then thank God for everything. Let Him know how happy He's made you.  Smile at God in the morning. Start your day with Gratitude.

{Wake Up a Conqueror}
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning
~Psalm 30:5

We let Satan defeat us every morning.  From the moment the alarm sounds, we are stressed out and miserable. We should be refreshed and excited in the morning! However "To-do's" and "not-done's" buzzing through our heads take over. If God promised joy in the morning, where did it go?

Stop giving your PM problems an AM wake-up call. Let Satan sleep while you get up and win. Put on your armour, and get dressed. Declare God's dominion over every aspect of your day and life. Wake up your favor in the morning. Start your day with Victory!

Give God your morning and see what He does with your day.

Presentation Notes: Dayspring WINGS Service

W.I.N.G.S. Women’s Service
Presentation by Dr. Asha Fields Brewer

Title: Am I a Bag Lady?
Date: October 25, 2013
Location: Dayspring Family Church, Bishop Kevin Dickerson & Pastor Sonjia Dickerson, 618 N. Belt Line Rd, Irving TX 75061

Presentation Notes

KEY SCRIPTURE: 3 John 1:2 KJV-Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
  • NLT- Good health
  • This tells us via Paul that God desires for us to prosper TWICE.
  • Notice the link in between...good health.
  • Excess baggage can keep us from attaining this prosperity.
  • In reviving the body, we have to get rid of some excesses baggage, so ask yourself, "Am I a Bag Lady?
Let's look at some bags we may have accumulated...
Sleeping Bags- bags under the eyes
  • FLUID- dilated blood vessels forcing/pumping nutrients to eyes that are straining to stay awake
  • THIN/ DROOPING SKIN- more fat replaces the protein, so the skin becomes baggy.
  • Genesis 1:16 KJV- And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night:...
    • Your greater should be lesser by nightfall
    • God separated day and night, so should you
  • In regards to sleeping, ask yourself, "Am I a Bag Lady?"

Eating Bags- food/eating bags
  • We're living TO-GO lives ONE-STOP at a time.
  • Just as important as WHAT we eat is the ENVIRONMENT in which we eat it
  • Racing through meals is not how we take care of the temple, in fact, it's disrespectful and disobedient.
    • 1 Corinthians 10:31 KJV- Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
  • When we're on the go with all these bags, we lose the essence of eating altogether
    • We chew less, which means we break down less in the mouth, which means more work for the stomach and intestines, which means less nutrients absorbed overall, which leads to decreased immune function, which means poorer health more sickness and more disease.
    • We make poorer decisions, because our brains are starving for carbohydrates. We make quick, reactionary decisions regarding what to eat, instead of cogitating on what is best for our bodies.
    • Most detrimental is that we don't sit down as a family. Breaking bread builds relationships, but it's hard to do that while rushing, driving, etc.
  • In regards to eating, ask yourself, "Am I a Bag Lady?"

Trash Bags- excuses against participating in physical activity
  • The problems is we've gotten really good at making excuses.
    • Many examples were thrown out by sisters in the audience, and we threw them all away!
    • It's time to take out the trash and move! These are Your excuses for inactivity...they are piling up and weighing you down.
  • If you're supposed to be accelerating to the next level, how can you do so effectively with all of this trash?
  • When God says move, you have to be ready
    • David had to be ready to step up to Goliath.
    • The Israelites had to be ready to exit Egypt.
    • Do you have the physical endurance it takes for your assignment?
  • In regards to trash bags and excuses, ask yourself, "Am I a Bag Lady?"
Final Thoughts
  • The Devil is stealing,  killing, and destroying our health, not just because he can, but because we're making it easy.
  • Again, 3 John 1:2 KJV-Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
  • We're focusing on our souls and not the temple that
    • protects that soul
    • represents that soul,
    • and literally/ physically takes that soul where it's going.
So again I ask you, "Are You a Bag Lady?"

I was so blessed and honored to share with you. More information about Dr. Asha and Temple Fit Ministries is available at www.doctorasha.com. Love you!! :)
